Bio

I obtained my BA and MPhil from the University of Wales Lampeter. From 2002-2004 I was based at the British Institute in Amman as research scholar. Thereafter, I undertook PhD research at the Institute of Archaeology at University College London under the supervision of Andrew Garrard, Louise Martin and Andrew Gardner, funded by an AHRC doctoral scholarship. After graduating in 2009 I became the deputy director of the Qatar Islamic Archaeology and Heritage project and moved to the University of Copenhagen. I was made Assistant Professor in 2010 and promoted to Associate Professor in 2014. 

 

Research Interests

  • emergence of agriculture in southwest Asia
  • prehistory of southwest Asia (mostly Epipalaeolithic/Neolithic)
  • landscape archaeology
  • social and cultural interaction
  • lithic technology
  • human-environmental interactions
  • archaeology, heritage and politics 

 

Teaching

I contribute to a range of modules on the Near Eastern Archaeology BA and MA level, including Themes and Topics in Near Eastern Archaeology 1 & 2, Practical Archaeology 1 & 2, Approaches to Archaeology, Videnskabsteori, Theory and Method and the Berlin-Copenhagen Seminar.
