N2 - Discussions of standardisation and standard languages has a long history in linguistics. Tore Kristiansen has contributed to these discussions in various ways, and in this chapter I will focus on his claim that young Danes operate with two standards, one for the media and one for the school. This ‘double standard model’ is disussed and developed in an analysis of results from a verbal guise experiment among Copenhagen adolescents.
